Okeechobee Waterway Route 2 Bridge Restriction: October 2026 Yacht Arrival Checklist
Plan your October 2026 yacht arrival around the Point Chosen Bridge restriction, with a dated captain, marina and estate handoff for Fort Lauderdale readiness.
Your yacht’s delivery date and your return to South Florida may move independently. With the Point Chosen Bridge restriction approaching, the useful next step is a dated handoff connecting your captain’s route decision, your marina’s receiving arrangements and your home’s preparation schedule. Keep the two arrival dates visible throughout.

Point Chosen Bridge: October 12–December 22 restriction and 8-foot clearance
Point Chosen Swing Bridge on Okeechobee Waterway Route 2 is scheduled to suspend routine openings from 8 a.m. October 12 through 8 a.m. December 22, 2026. A suspended work platform will reduce vertical clearance to 8 feet. Ask your captain to verify the latest notice. Source: USCG bridge notices, entries 53355 and 53362.
As of October 5, the opening restriction is still ahead. The published end of routine-opening restrictions and removal of the work platform are separate confirmations. Have your captain recheck the notice when the restriction begins, after any revision and before relying on the scheduled December 22 end. Confirm platform removal separately before assuming additional clearance.
Ask your captain whether your delivery uses Route 2
The Point Chosen restriction does not close the entire Okeechobee Waterway. USCG identifies Route 1, the open-lake crossing, as available; vessels safely clearing the closed bridge and platform may pass. Your captain determines route suitability. Broader bridge rehabilitation is scheduled through approximately January 28, 2027. Source: USCG bridge notices, entries 53355 and 53362.
Begin with your actual delivery plan. Ask your captain whether it includes Route 2 and Point Chosen Bridge, whether the restriction changes that plan, and what arrival window can now be supported.
Request the confirmed route, revised ETA, time zone and next update time in writing. If timing remains provisional, record an arrival window and the decision still outstanding. Avoid converting an uncertain passage plan into a fixed dockside meeting or household delivery appointment.
Reconfirm your receiving berth, shore power and after-hours arrival
As of October 2026, Las Olas Marina lists 88 slips. Its inquiry requests arrival and departure dates, vessel length, beam, draft, and power needs. The marina warns that power availability and slip rates can change. Send revised dates and request written berth and power confirmation. Source: Las Olas Marina’s slip inquiry.
Send the dockmaster your captain’s revised ETA and current vessel particulars. Ask for confirmation of the assigned berth, reservation dates and required shore-power amperage, voltage, phase and connection arrangements.
For an arrival outside the marina’s receiving hours, ask who will receive the vessel, how your captain reaches that person, and how crew obtain gate or dock access. Have the captain and marina agree on the arrangements. A submitted inquiry alone does not establish that the berth, power or arrival assistance is confirmed.
Give your captain, dockmaster and estate contact one dated handoff record
Use this proposed coordination record to keep each confirmation attached to its source. Assign one person—your designated estate contact or another authorized coordinator—to maintain the current version and circulate changes. Keep access credentials in your agreed private channel.
Handoff template dated October 5, 2026. Replace the timestamp when you complete or revise it. Mark each item confirmed or pending, with the confirming person and confirmation time.
| Item | What your record should contain |
|---|---|
| Current version | October 5, 2026; [time and time zone]; revision [number]; coordinator [name/contact] |
| Yacht delivery | Captain [name/contact]; captain-confirmed route; ETA or arrival window; notice checked [date/time] |
| Marina reception | Dockmaster [name/contact]; marina-confirmed berth and reservation dates; power specifications; receiving person; after-hours instructions |
| Your home arrival | Your separate arrival date/time; authorized guest or household contact, if applicable |
| Property access | Approved entrants; access instructions and credential-delivery method; person responsible for access |
| Home preparation | Approved tasks; stocking completion deadline; responsible estate contact and vendors |
| Open decisions | Pending confirmation; person responsible; deadline; dependent task held |
| Next update | Date/time/time zone; person sending it; captain, marina and estate recipients |
When the ETA changes, obtain renewed marina confirmation. Change your household schedule when the revision affects your own arrival or an agreed dependency. Ask each contact to acknowledge the fields they control; forwarded information should remain attributed to its original confirmer.
Reset home-arrival preparations in Las Olas Isles, Harbor Beach or Rio Vista
For your Fort Lauderdale home, separate the dockside schedule from the household readiness deadline. In Las Olas Isles, Harbor Beach or Rio Vista, record the correct property entrance and approved vendor access rather than assuming marina instructions also cover the residence.
As of October 2026, Black Tie White Glove’s arrival and departure preparation includes temperature, lighting, shades, linens, pool heat and access routines, alongside grocery, pantry and refrigerator stocking, beverages and flowers. Confirm which tasks belong in your agreed scope.
If your yacht is delayed but your flight is unchanged, retain the home-readiness and fresh-food deadlines. If your own arrival moves, reset perishable deliveries and time-sensitive preparations with the estate contact. When the yacht arrives first, specify who handles marina communications while household preparation continues toward your separate return date.
Check confirmations 72 hours before, 24 hours before and on arrival
The following checkpoints are a suggested coordination protocol. Count back from the yacht ETA for marina reception and from your home-arrival time for household preparation. If notice is shorter, complete the relevant confirmations as soon as practical.
72 hours before: Ask your captain to reconfirm route and ETA, the dockmaster to reconfirm berth and power, and your estate contact to confirm access, approved tasks and stocking deadlines. Assign every unresolved item to one person.
24 hours before: Circulate a revised record if anything has changed. Confirm the receiving person and after-hours instructions with the marina. Have your estate contact report completed preparations, remaining work and whether any delivery deadline needs adjustment.
On yacht arrival: Obtain confirmation from the captain and marina that reception is complete. Update any linked land-side appointments.
On your home arrival: Close the household record separately. Confirm access and agreed preparations are complete, and identify any remaining task and its responsible contact.
