Friedrich Kühl Air Conditioner Recall 2026: Your South Florida Guesthouse Checklist

Check your Friedrich Kühl recall status and create a South Florida guesthouse handoff record for shutdown, interim care, vendor access and arrival readiness.

If a Friedrich Kühl window air conditioner cools your South Florida guesthouse, check its recall status before your October arrival. Keep one room-specific record that follows the unit from identification and shutdown through the cooling interruption to arrival preparation. A refund or replacement delivery can resolve one task while cooling remains unfinished.

The checklist below is a recommended owner handoff procedure. Black Tie White Glove’s Fort Lauderdale service area includes Las Olas Isles and Harbor Beach; your guesthouse should have its own cooling record whenever it operates independently of the main residence.

Check your model and serial number, and stop using recalled units

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s September 17, 2026 recall covers certain Friedrich Kühl Q and S window air conditioners—about 2,000 units—because of fire and burn hazards. If your unit is recalled, stop using it immediately. Have its model and serial number ready; the official notice directs you to Friedrich’s recall page. CPSC recall notice.

Friedrich’s identification guide lists KCVQ08B10A, KHVQ10B11A, KCVS08B10A, KCVS12B10A, KCVS12B30A and KCVS16B30A, with serial ranges for each. It shows the rating plate inside the unit, behind the front panel. Follow its illustrations; arrange HVAC assistance if access is difficult.

Photograph the complete model and serial label, then identify the room and unit location. Check each unit separately. Label a screening match potentially affected—manufacturer confirmation pending. Use manufacturer-confirmed recalled only after Friedrich confirms eligibility. Keep shutdown status in a separate field, with who stopped using the unit and when.

Confirm eligibility and your refund or replacement route with Friedrich

As of October 2026, Friedrich lists six Kühl models for screening; a serial-range match does not confirm recall eligibility. Call Friedrich’s recall hotline, 800-541-6645, to confirm. Confirmed affected KHVQ10B11A units qualify for a refund; other confirmed affected models qualify for a free replacement. Follow Friedrich’s instructions for your unit. Friedrich recall instructions.

The CPSC notice lists hotline hours as 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Central, Monday–Friday. October 4 is Sunday; record a Monday, October 5 confirmation call if you have not reached Friedrich. Recalled units should remain out of use.

Save Friedrich’s confirmation date, case reference and instructions. Ask what documentation, delivery arrangements or return steps apply to your unit. Record unanswered questions and the next follow-up date rather than assuming a completion timeline.

Create your guesthouse cooling-gap record and approve interim care

NWS Miami’s 7:21 a.m. EDT forecast discussion on October 4, 2026 listed Fort Lauderdale highs of 89°F for October 4 and 5. Its regional workweek outlook anticipated upper-80s to low-90s highs and 70–80% daily rain chances. These outdoor forecasts do not establish conditions inside your guesthouse. Assign temporary cooling, removal and installation decisions to your HVAC provider. Approve the proposed arrangement before work proceeds, including equipment, placement and any required follow-up. Record whether you will move guests to another room while cooling is unresolved.

As of October 2026, Black Tie White Glove’s vendor coordination service includes specialist scheduling, access coordination and owner reporting. Agree the scope for your property and retain technical decisions with the appropriate provider.

Agree your observation schedule and next owner update

Set visit dates around the cooling interruption, vendor appointments and arrival. Use your home watch care plan to define access, reporting and escalation.

At agreed visits, request dated photographs and observations of the affected room: visible moisture, unusual odors, accessible surfaces and the status of any owner-approved interim equipment. If agreed and an instrument is available, record indoor temperature or humidity with the time and location. Ask your HVAC provider which observations warrant an earlier call.

Keep reports specific: what was observed, what changed, who needs to act and when you will receive the next update. A visit report describes conditions at that visit. If a visit is missed or access fails, record the gap and reschedule it.

Prepare authorized access for delivery, removal and installation

Before an appointment, confirm the provider’s name, scope and arrival window. Share entry instructions directly with the authorized provider, identify the guesthouse entrance and agree who will receive equipment.

Have your HVAC provider confirm the removal and installation sequence, including arrangements for the opening while equipment is absent. Follow Friedrich’s instructions for the recalled unit’s disposition. Keep delivery, removal and installation as separate tasks in the record.

After the appointment, request the provider’s completion note and any operating instructions. Record work completed, work deferred and approvals still required. A delivery receipt closes the delivery task; your HVAC provider’s installation and operating confirmation need their own evidence.

Review completion and open items 48 hours before your arrival

Schedule an open-item review 48 hours before arrival. For example, a Friday, October 9 arrival at 4 p.m. calls for a Wednesday, October 7 review at 4 p.m.

Review three things:

  • Recall remedy: Friedrich’s case status, required steps completed and remaining follow-up.
  • Cooling work: the HVAC provider’s installation or interim-care confirmation, operating instructions and unresolved work.
  • Room preparation: latest agreed observations, access arrangements and any outstanding cleaning or linen reset.

Keep recall-case completion and cooling readiness separate. If cooling remains unresolved, identify the room explicitly and decide where guests will stay. Revisit the record if conditions or appointments change after the review, and carry confirmed arrangements into your arrival preparation.

To arrange property-specific visit dates, vendor access and owner updates, contact Black Tie White Glove or review packages and memberships. Include your arrival date, guesthouse cooling status and any confirmed vendor appointments.
